Jesus the Word speaks in the dark lighting the spark of all we see Jesus the Word rules through his promises Lord over history Jesus heals with a word and commands the waves Jesus speaks to the dead and he empties graves Chorus: Word of hope from above, word of light and love. word of peace ending strife Bringing joy and life. Jesus the Word mute at his trial and when reviled upon the tree Jesus the Word silenced by violence drowned out at Calvary Jesus silent no more as he gathers breath Jesus steps from the tomb and the grip of death Jesus the Word message of love rising above this noisy world Jesus the Word gathers his people as his command is heard Jesus given a name over every name to the ends of the earth we proclaim his fame Jesus the Word speaks to our fears comforts our tears with words of peace Let all with ears come now and hear his voice Let all your doubting cease

O Lord our Rock, redeeming King, your truth alone can comfort bring when we are in distress. Your perfect law revives the soul And binds our wounds and makes us whole. Your promise leads to rest, Your promise leads to rest. Your precepts make our hearts rejoice; for in your word we hear your voice; The voice of God above. Your gospel breaks like break of day to give us light to light our way, To walk in paths of love, to walk in paths of love. Your statutes make your people wise, illuminating darkened eyes For your commands are true. Your word is firm and will endure. The fear that it evokes is pure And binds our hearts to you, and binds our hearts to you. Your word is worth far more than gold for in it’s pages we behold: The treasury of Christ. It’s lines upon the tongue are sweet; they lead us to our saviour’s feet And his great sacrifice, and his great sacrifice. As your decrees are read and taught, May every word and every thought Be pleasing to you Lord. Your Spirit’s power to all impart That Christ may dwell in every heart, And be our true reward, And be our true reward. May wand’ring hearts be warned from sin, May troubled souls find peace within. May Christ be our delight. Forgive our faults unlock our chains, And in our lives restore your reign: Our hearts with love ignite, our hearts with love ignite.

Our lives flow on in endless song, above earth’s lamentations We hear the real, though far-off hymn that hails a new creation: Through all the tumult and the strife we hear the music ringing; It finds an echo in our soul - How can we keep from singing? What though our joys and comforts die? The Lord our saviour liveth! What though the darkness gather round? Songs in the night he giveth; No storm can shake our inmost calm while to that rock we’re clinging; Since Christ is Lord of Heav’n and earth, How can we keep from singing? We lift our eyes to see his face, though dimly, as reflection And holding dear his glorious cross we await our resurrection! The peace of Christ delights our hearts A fountain ever springing: All things are ours since we are his - How can we keep from singing?

Lord we’ve turned from living waters, Tried to quench our thirst with sin And now weary, parched and yearning, Lord we turn to you our King. Spirit help our hearts to taste now that the Lord, our God is good And for me, for me a sinner, there is blessing in his blood. We have run from you like fools, Lord filled with love of self and pride, leaving truth that you have taught us we have wandered far and wide But your mercy does not leave us and your love does not depend on our works but your work finished that will keep us to the end. Lord our lives have not reflected the new life you died to win We have lived as slaves to evil not as children of the king. But your promise does not falter and your covenant is sure And when Christ returns to claim us we’ll be spotless, blameless pure. Lord we long for your appearing when you take your rightful place when the lame will run to meet you and the blind will see your face, O Lord may that day come quickly when your children you will bring to the home that you have made us there to feast with you our king.
5.
May the mind of Christ our saviour live in us from day to day By his love and power controlling all we do and say. May the word of God dwell richly, in our hearts, from hour to hour, so that all may see we triumph only through his power.

May the love of Jesus fill us as the waters fill the sea him exalting, self abasing, this is victory May we run the race before us, strong and brave to face the foe Looking all the while to Jesus as we onward go. May the peace of God our Father in our lives for ever reign That we may be calm to comfort those in grief and pain, those in grief and pain. May his beauty rest upon us as we seek the lost to win And may they forget the servants Seeing only him, seeing only him.
